WHAT CLOTHS SHOULD I WEAR? FOOTWEAR?

Wear loose fitting comfortable clothes. Trainers or plimsole based shoes are fine. Remember we are not here to parade around looking fabulous. We are here to workout and sweat. Please bring towels to mop up after yourself if you find you sweat a lot.

Shoes should be suitable for all types of training. As a personal preference google vibram five fingers, these are without a doubt the best shoes for what we do. There are similar shoes on the market please research into them before you buy. Bare in mind that we will be running, skipping, jumping, weight lifting and rowing in these shoes, so you do need to be comfortable.

THERE ARE CERTAIN EXERCISES THAT I PARTICULARLY HATE DOING, CAN I LEAVE THEM OUT?

In short no. While we try to accomodate everyone and make sure there are things that we can all do, sometimes you will find that you are on the receiving end of a bad run of workouts that include your least favourites. Your dislike for an exercise is normally down to the fact that it is a difficult move or that you become tired from it quickly. There is only one school of thought here in this instance. By practising the things you hate doing you will become better and stronger for it, mentally and physically. Our Motto at CrossFit Northampton is "Train Your Weakness, Live Your Strength".

MY MUSCLES ARE SORE AFTER A WORKOUT, SHOULD I STRETCH TO PREVENT THIS?

As part of the programme you will always receive a good warm-up to prepare your body for the main workout. However, at the end of the workout we fully recommend stretching out all the major muscles you have used. In particular the legs and the arms for people who haven't done this type of exercise before. This should help prevent muscle soreness the following day. But, if you have pushed yourself quite hard and perhaps over exerted yourself then muscles soreness may occur more regularly. If you have any worries you should compress the area with ice packs NOT heat, and then rest. Once your muscles have become used to this type of exercise the soreness will become infrequent and you'll be able to work harder.

I AM A MEMBER AT ANOTHER CROSSFIT GYM CAN I COME TO CLASS?

Of course, we would love to have fellow CrossFitters join us for a workout. Best way to do it is to ring ahead and chat to Kris, telephone number 07980 707557. Pay structure would be same for PAYG.

AS A MEMBER CAN I NOW USE THE FACILITY WHENEVER I LIKE?

Unfortunately no. All of CrossFits success is based around quality coaching and programming, while at CrossFit Northampton you will always be coached by qualified staff. Members are only allowed to attend the classes set out in our timetable. The studio outside of that time is officially closed, however it may be used by coaches with their own private groups and one-to-one clients.

WHAT IF I CANNOT DO A WORKOUT?

ll of our workouts are scalable. Universal Scalability means that anyone can do CrossFit. This is something hard for people to understand when they see what the workouts are, but moving your body through large ranges of motion, picking things up, and getting more work done in less time are all good for everyone. We try to instil this concept in our clients and the greater community and often we surprise people by revealing what they are capable of doing after just a short time.

WHY IS MEMBERSHIP SO HIGH?

This is the best you can get, the return on investment is huge, the experience life changing. The pricing membership page gives an indication of the range of membership packages. We do not compete on price, we compete on quality, skilled professional coaching and training. There are plenty of places out there A LOT cheaper. You get what you pay for. Please check out the lower price places before you come to us so you know what you are getting. The real cost of entry is the effort you are prepared to put into your training and the energy you are prepared to put into the community.
